Worship gives religious form to the bonds among gods, forebears, wights, people, and place through prayer, offering, sacrifice, and the keeping of holy things.

The beings addressed, the purpose of an act, and the place in which it occurs all matter. Prayer is purposeful speech to the gods; offering is religious giving. Household observance and communal worship carry different responsibilities, while sacred ground gives approach and ritual action their proper bounds.
