Fyrnsegen is transmitted through lived relationships, shared worship, obligation, and time; reading may begin an approach, but affiliation belongs to a cynn.

A visitor is not expected to arrive already committed. Affiliation develops as people worship, work, and keep customs together; both the person and the cynn come to recognise the responsibilities of the bond. Those at a distance may also begin with conversation.
