We Are Our Deeds
The Elder Heathenry, Its Ethic and Thew
Author: Brian Smith · Cynemund
Edition: Substantially rewritten and expanded third edition
Publication: Forthcoming 2027
A study of the Elder Heathen ethic and the place of thew, honour, obligation, reputation, kinship, gift, oath, wrongdoing, and consequence.
The new third edition is a substantial rewriting and expansion of the earlier work. It returns to the surviving Germanic sources while developing the account of thew as cultivated conduct within a world of relationship, memory, and obligation.
The earlier White Marsh Press edition will retire at the end of 2026; this new edition will become the principal Fyrnsegen Press treatment of the subject.
Forthcoming in 2027. Publication details will be announced through the mailing list.
